Most of the rest of the group didn't understand my fascination, but I loved every minute of it. It felt just like game day at home! The rules of rugby are a little different than football, but I followed along pretty well. You get 5 points for a 'try' versus 6 points for a touchdown and any time you kick the ball through the uprights you get 3 points. The strangest part for me was that they couldn't pass the ball forward... seem like a hassle if you ask me. It wasn't as violent as I was expecting either. Since they don't wear any kind of padding I thought there would be more injuries, but nothing too major happened.
Here are some shots from the game... oh I should mention that we were seated in row 75 which was at the very top:
Very. Top. Row. Kinda reminded me of our seats in Death Valley.
Military before the game.
They pick each other up to get the ball... crazy!
Injury!
Bath scoring...
Bath fans after the score.
Itty bitty goal posts!
Halftime score.
Robert and I at halftime :)
Final score.
As you can see the Wasps lost. Even though I only have a general grasp of Rugby, I can say that the Wasps didn't play very well at all. They literally dropped the ball like 5 times when they were in the red zone, and if the ball hits the ground in Rugby it's fair game. Oh well, even though they lost it was still a fun day!
